The Conwell-Egan Catholic (CEC) Eagles capped off Senior Night with an impressive straight-set win over Little Flower (25–11, 25–13, 25–13). The victory was highlighted by strong serving and balanced offense as the Eagles honored their two seniors, #2 Alessia Romano and #20 Alia Schmidt, for their leadership, dedication, and lasting impact on the program.

 

Senior Recognition

Conwell-Egan celebrated seniors Alessia Romano and Alia Schmidt during the match.

 

Alessia Romano, a Diocesan Scholar at Gwynedd Mercy University and Student Government President, plans to study Nursing and continue her passion for helping others.

Alia Schmidt, a Diocesan Scholar at La Salle University, has committed to Shippensburg University to continue her volleyball career while majoring in Biology/Pre-Med.

In just two seasons with CEC, Alia recorded over 365 kills, 240 digs, 30 blocks, and 65 aces, establishing herself as a dominant six-rotation player. Both seniors have been outstanding leaders on and off the court, leaving behind a lasting legacy for the Eagles.

 

Match Summary

The Eagles came out energized, maintaining control from the opening serve. Strong serving runs and disciplined net play kept the momentum firmly on CEC’s side as they secured the sweep in front of a supportive home crowd.

#11 Alaira Vecchione – Contributed 1 assist, 7 digs, and 8 aces, setting the tone from the service line.

#20 Alia Schmidt – Closed out her Senior Night with a stellar 13 kills, 4 digs, and 3 aces.

#2 Alessia Romano – Added 1 kill, 11 assists, and 5 digs, helping guide the offense.

#9 Olivia Barber – Provided 3 kills, 1 assist, 1 dig, and 5 aces, showing strength at the net and on serve.

#3 Celeste Kinney – Added 2 kills, 1 assist, and 1 dig.

#1 Hannah Ross – Consistent performance with 7 kills, 3 digs, and 4 aces.

#8 Olivia Grbas – Solid defensive effort with 7 digs.

#19 Reese Murphy – Contributed 5 digs and 3 aces off the bench.

#10 Sophia Lodise – Controlled play with 3 kills, 10 assists, 6 digs, and 6 aces.

 

 

Head Coach Sori Perez reflected on the night:

“This was a special evening for Alia and Alessia, who have both been tremendous role models for our program. It was a perfect way to celebrate their contributions and close out Senior Night.”
