The Conwell-Egan Catholic (CEC) Eagles Girls Volleyball team put up a hard-fought effort in their second match of the season against Villa Joseph Marie, ultimately falling in four sets (21-25, 25-21, 20-25, 23-25) in a best-of-five series.
The Eagles showed resilience throughout the contest, bouncing back in the second set with a 25-21 win and pushing Villa Joseph Marie to the limit in both the third and fourth sets. As a team, CEC displayed strong serving, defensive intensity, and a balanced offensive attack that kept the match competitive until the final point.
Notable Performances:
Alia Schmidt – Led the offense with a dominant performance: 20 kills, 2 blocks, 2 assists, 16 digs, and 5 aces.
Sophia Lodise – Contributed heavily across the board with 13 kills, 123 assists, 12 digs, and 2 aces.
Celeste Kinney – Tallied 19 assists, 5 digs, 1 block, 1 kill, and 13 serves with 1 ace, distributing the offense with consistency.
Hannah Ross – Added 3 kills, 2 assists, 16 digs, and 18 serves, bringing both defensive and serving strength.
Lily Lodise (Freshman Debut) – Impressive first varsity match with 14 digs and 10 serves, anchoring the back row.
Olivia Barber – Solid contributions with 1 kill, 3 digs, and 12 serves.
Lucie Grodzki – Added 3 digs in the defensive specialist role.
